The Importance of Temperature Control
During the edge banding process, the temperature of the hot-melt adhesive, the substrate, and the edge banding material-as well as the ambient temperature of the operating environment-are all critical factors influencing the quality of the finished edge. Temperature directly affects the curing rate and the bonding strength of the materials; therefore, careful attention must be paid to both the ambient temperature and the temperature of the materials themselves.

Glue Line Management and Substrate Preparation
Upon completion of edge banding, the appearance of the glue line between the panel and the edge banding strip directly impacts the overall aesthetic appeal of the panel furniture. Excessive application of adhesive results in a prominent, visible glue line, whereas insufficient application compromises the bonding strength and durability of the edge. It is essential to precisely control the adhesive application volume to prevent visible glue lines, while simultaneously ensuring that both the substrate and the edge banding material are maintained at appropriate moisture levels and temperatures.

Maintenance Considerations for Edge Banding Machines
Regarding the maintenance of edge banding machines, it is crucial to lower the temperature of the adhesive tank to approximately 150°C whenever the machine is shut down. This practice helps prevent the hot-melt adhesive from carbonizing (burning) during prolonged periods of inactivity. Furthermore, the adhesive tank and application rollers should be regularly cleaned to maintain optimal performance and to prevent residual adhesive within the tank from carbonizing.
