If the edge banding machine is to remain idle for more than two hours, the temperature of the glue tank should be lowered to approximately 100°C. On one hand, this prevents the hot-melt adhesive from carbonizing due to prolonged exposure to operating temperatures, thereby keeping the tank clean and preventing blockages in the glue supply system or a decline in heating efficiency. On the other hand, it allows the tank to quickly return to the required operating temperature when operations resume. Additionally, the glue tank must be kept at least two-thirds full; failure to do so may result in the formation of black carbonized deposits around the interior walls of the tank.
The glue tank and applicator roller should be cleaned regularly, as excessive carbonized residue around the tank and adhesive buildup on the roller will compromise the performance of both the heating and glue supply systems.
If it becomes necessary to remove residual adhesive from the tank: if the tank is cold, it must first be heated until the adhesive around the edges begins to melt, at which point it can be scraped away using a putty knife; if the tank is already hot, the adhesive can be scraped away directly using a putty knife.
