PVC edge banding is a thermoplastic coiled material produced by compounding and extruding polyvinyl chloride (PVC)-its primary raw material-together with various additives such as plasticizers, stabilizers, lubricants, and dyes. Its surface features a variety of textures and patterns-including wood grain, marble, and fabric motifs-while exhibiting a soft luster that conveys the authentic look and three-dimensional depth of real wood. It possesses a high degree of surface finish and decorative appeal, along with specific resistance to heat, chemicals, and corrosion, as well as a certain level of surface hardness.
The primary function of edge banding is to seal the exposed edges of panel materials, thereby protecting them from damage caused by adverse environmental factors and operational stresses-particularly moisture-while simultaneously preventing the emission of formaldehyde from within the panel and achieving a decorative finish.
